With the release of this fourth issue, Machado de Assis Magazine – Brazilian Literature in Translation offers a broad anorama of contemporary output from some of Brazil's finest writers. The publication showcases excerpts from important books by both emerging and established writers, selected by its editorial committee, and, beginning with this issue, also includes works of non-fiction. All issues – with texts in English, Spanish and occasionally other languages – can be freely accessed through the magazine's portal. With this, over the course of its first year the magazine has worked continuously to increase the visibility of a literary tradition marked by a diversity of genre, style and subject matter.
